Since the beginning of June, some friends and I have been running a free table at the corner of 50th and Market in West Philadephia every Saturday afternoon with support from The West Philly Bunnyhop.
Each week, we collect donated goods and distribute them for free at the table. A beautiful thing about the table is that it creates a small public space for anyone to spontaneously participate in mutual aid by offering what they have and taking what they need.
Through this project, we have also connected with a handful of neighbors who we now support directly with deliveries of food, baby supplies, and household essentials.
This Saturday, August 8th will be our 10th week at the table! I am calling on neighbors and friends to help us make it a special and abundant day. Here are some ways that you can help:
Donate money! We will use it to purchase supplies. venmo or cash app: freetableon50th

Donate supplies! You can drop off supplies directly to the table this Saturday, August 8th between 1-2pm. If you would like to arrange to drop off supplies before Saturday, send me an email: mail@tarynjones.com
Spread the word! Please share this information with your network, especially folks who live in our neighborhood
After this week we are going to take a little break from organizing the table to rest and make plans for the future of this project. We will not be taking a break from directly supporting our neighbors and will continue to make deliveries to folks who have requested them.
Going forward, I would like to organize a neighbor support network for my neighborhood, called Dunlap, in West Philadelphia (between 49th & 52nd, Market & Haverford). If you would like to participate, please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/hKqD4pR8dNvwQG7p8
Thanks to everyone for your help and to so many folks in Philly who I have seen showing up for your neighbors during this crisis. You’re doing great!
