short film directed by Randy Yang, produced by Nick Houy

“Paper Words” is a short film written and directed by Randy Yang that follows a single mother and young son as they face the potential loss of their home. It was set almost entirely in one apartment location in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn.
I was given one week to transform a sleek, blank, modern sublet into a realistically cluttered, cozy, colorful family home, which was a huge challenge and also an amazing opportunity to control every detail of the set. The above photo shows the bedroom set for the film’s ten-year-old protagonist and the images below are screenshots from footage by director of photography Michael McSweeney.
